“Anatomy for the Artist” by Sarah Simblet
This book is one-of-a-kind.
It cleverly shows lots of commissioned drawings and photographs to visually demonstrate how skeletons and muscles combine.
The photographs are enhanced by transparent sheets, which have the corresponding hand-drawn anatomy superimposed. In this way, students can understand both the human anatomy and how it appears when covered by skin.
Human anatomy is covered from head to toe, featuring stunning drawings of anatomies moving through space. These drawings not only look great but also help the student understand the spatial composition.
The book features more than 250 artworks, including photographs and drawings, 10 masterclasses explaining how great artists of the past have represented the human body, and provides practical advice and top tips on figure drawing…Amazing!

Sarah Simblet’s “Anatomy for the Artist! Is the first of its kind – a comprehensive guide to drawing the human form.
